Found in North America as well as Europe and Asia, juniper was considered as sacred by all shamanic cultures living there. For North American tribes, juniper represented one of the most important powerful and protective plants - its wood, twigs and berries have been used for ritual and medicinal incense since prehistoric times. Its fresh, woody, powerful scent has strong protective and restorative properties. This oil is extracted from the twigs and leaves of particularly powerful trees that grow at high altitudes in western North America.
