Camentsa Handicrafts
The Kamëntsá, or Camsa tribe, consists of about 5000 peoples and is located in the Sibundoy valley, in the Putumayo region of south-eastern Columbia. This region is situated in the passage between the Andes and the Amazon basin and is the home to an extraordinarily diverse abundance of plants. The Kamëntsá people are considered to be gifted healers and have a rich botanical healing tradition.
One of the most important medicinal plants of the Kamëntsá shamans is Yagé (also known as Ayahuasca). The visions received while under the influence of Ayahuasca are then reproduced in the glass bead jewellery. By purchasing these hand crafts, you support these guardians of ancient, traditional knowledge.
