Q'ero Handicrafts

The Q'ero are considered the direct descendants of the Incas. They live in Peru in the Andean highlands about 90 km south-east of Cuzco, the former Inca capital. They are about 1500 people. They live in small villages in the high mountain valleys at 2000-4800 meters above sea level. They speak Quechua, the ancient Inca language. Besides agriculture is their main work, mainly that of women, the processing of wool. It is spun by the simplest means, with a hand spindle, dyed with natural substances and finally woven into colorful blankets. The techniques and patterns are given as a heritage of the ancestors to the next generations.

The Q'ero have preserved their ancient and spiritual knowledge and live in harmony with the earth. By purchasing these products you are supporting the Q'ero community Chalma Chimpana in Peru.
