Cacao ceremonies
Ritual cacao ceremonies are also becoming increasingly popular in this country. In them, cacao takes us on a journey to our innermost being as a plant teacher and gives us ecstatic experiences as well as deep relaxation. The indigenous peoples of Central and South America used the spiritual power of cacao to connect with nature, release inner blockages, achieve clarity and find harmony.
The cacao ceremony expands the mind and stimulates creativity. The ritual is usually led by a cacao shaman. However, it is also possible to celebrate your own small ceremony. The preparation involves light fasting. Then look for a protected place - whether a quiet room or a meadow. Prepare yourself and the room with a cleansing incense. It is advisable to enter the ceremony with a specific theme. This could be a specific question, a feeling you want to explore or simply devotion to the simplicity of life.
To prepare the ritual cacao drink, choose the type of cacao from our range that appeals to you the most. We recommend 30g of cacao for a 200 ml cup. If you already have experience with cacao, you can also use a larger quantity. Add the desired amount to warm (not boiling) oat milk or water. Cow’s milk is not recommended because it blocks certain substances in the cacao and the ritual should be purely plant-based. The drink can be refined with spices (e.g. our cacao spice blend). Now enjoy the cacao in small sips and feel the energy spreading through your body as you drink it. It is common to meditate during the ceremony; you can experience a journey to your inner self or into your past. The meditation and the soothing taste of cacao are said to free the mind. The cacao journey can also be supported by the sounds of nature. The journey ends with a song, sitting or lying still. As cocoa has a cleansing effect, it is important to drink plenty of water after the ceremony.
Ritual cacao is a powerful plant medicine and cannot be compared to conventional chocolate. The raw cacao we supply is far stronger and more intense than industrial chocolate and can be consciousness-altering. As raw cacao has a strong stimulating effect, people with cardiovascular problems or similar should consult their doctor before a ceremony. The same applies if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
